This past weekend, Danika Miles made her first-ever dirt track start at Lancaster Motor Speedway, and she didn’t just hold her own — she brought home an impressive 4th-place finish against a tough field of seasoned drivers. From the moment the green flag dropped, Danika showed the same focus, determination, and racing instinct that’s made her a standout throughout her Junior Dragster career. Transitioning from the straight-line precision of drag racing to the sliding, high-intensity world of dirt track competition is no small feat — but Danika adapted like a pro. Her smooth lines, quick reactions, and fearless approach behind the wheel proved she’s right where she belongs. This race marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Miles Custom Racing, as the team expands from drag racing into late model dirt racing for the upcoming 2026 season. Season Wrap-Up: Grateful, Fired Up, and Ready for What’s NextThe 2025 PDRA season has officially come to a close — and what a ride it’s been! From start to finish, both Gabe and Danika Miles delivered an incredible year on the track, representing the Miles Custom Racing name with grit, heart, and horsepower.
Gabe wrapped another strong season in Top Dragster, competing among nearly 300 of the best in the country and consistently placing in the Top 20 of the PDRA World Championship standings. His results translate to major visibility for our team and our partners across multiple rounds and passes each weekend. Meanwhile, Danika closed out her final Junior Dragster season with style, focus, and the determination that’s defined her eight-year journey. Her growth on and off the track has been a proud highlight for the entire Miles family and our fans who’ve followed along every step of the way. Since opening the year at GALOT, he’s been grinding it out round after round, building points and proving he belongs with the best in PDRA Top Dragster.
So far, Gabe has earned 800 points this season, placing him 13th in the championship standings. The road hasn’t been easy but that’s what makes it exciting! At the most recent stop in Bristol, TN for the Thunder Valley Throwdown, Gabe’s weekend ended in heartbreaking fashion. He was eliminated in the second round by just .004 seconds, a finish so close you could barely blink and miss it. While it wasn’t the result he wanted, it shows just how competitive the field is and how thin the margins can be at this level. With three races still to go, there’s plenty of time left to climb the ladder. The next chance comes at PDRA DragWars, September 11–13 at GALOT Motorsports Park in Benson, NC. The Performance Racing Industry convention is one of the largest in the world and the team had a great time checking out the vendors as well as seeing new innovations in the racing world. Danika was excited to meet drivers she had only seen on television and Gabe got a special kick out of walking out onto the Lucas Oil Stadium field to check out the car haulers and motorhomes.
Danika was awarded along with the other Top 10 drivers in each division at the PDRA Awards banquet held Saturday night. There was lots of good food and dancing and everyone had a great time. This summer was a busy one for the race team. After traveling to St. Louis to represent ES Foods at the SNA Conference, the crew headed to Ohio and Dragway 42 for the 5th PDRA race of the season. Danika had a great weekend qualifying for the quarter finals.
August brought the joy of celebrating Danika's 12th birthday as well as the sadness of losing Ricky Miles, Danika's grandfather and Gabe's father. He was a great man and we miss him so much. GALOT Motorsports Park in Benson, NC was the location of the next race in early Sept but the weather had another plan and the event was rained out. Next race, the team finally got to race closer to home at the Darlington Dragway Oct. 4-5th. Danika had her best race yet, qualifying for the semi-finals and finishing in the Top 4. Danika also got to wear a new helmet sponsored by Sarah & Geo's Pizza of Ridgeway, SC which was painted by Gabe. Gabe surprised Danika by paying homage to her grandfather with the words "My Pop rides with me" painted on the back. The team wrapped up their season at the PDRA World Finals in Petersburg, VA at the Virginia Motorsports Park. All their hard work earned Danika the 8th position in her Top Jr. Dragster division of the PDRA. She will be honored along with the other Top 10 in her division at a banquet held in conjunction with the PRI trade show in Indianapolis, IN the weekend of Dec. 13-15th. We are very excited for her and proud of her! The team has been all over the Southeast the past few weeks and the rest of the summer is also packed full of events. Spring started with the 4 Wide at zMax Dragway where Danika was thrilled to get to meet and watch Brittany Force race. They also have a Jr. Dragster exhibition so it is fun to meet and chat with other teams outside of competition days. The first weekend of May the team headed to Virginia Motorsports Park to race in the 2nd race of the PDRA schedule. The weather wasn't very cooperative but they were able to race and also snag an spot in the elimination round. Next up was the bracket series race at Darlington Dragway where Danika earned more points on her quest to be track champion. May ended with a block party at Sarah N' Geo's in Ridgeway, SC. There was lots of pizza thanks to Sarah and George and delicious A La Mode ice cream.
